The Frisian 'Kameleondorp'
Within this village you will find the famous duo called Hielke & Sietse Klinkhamer. These boys are famous from their books named 'De Kameleon'. Their goal in life is playing monkey tricks.
In the village of Terherne you experience the adventures and characters from the books.

Box beds and old-fashioned loos
The village of Terherne is installed as home port of 'De Kameleon'. The lampposts, the streets and the village square are just like in the old days. Even the bridge located in the heart of the village is still raised in the old-fashioned way. And don’t forget the house of the family of Klinkhamer. Furnished with old box beds and an old-fashioned loo. In the museum you can take a look into the books of 'De Kameleon'. Besides, there are organised roundtrips by boat as well.

Harbour houses
The harbour of Terherne is located along the lake of Sneekermeer. An harbour with classic ships, occupational- and recreational boats from the previous century. Located around the harbour you find historical holiday houses – Harbour houses – and shops, Bed & Breakfasts and a Ship Hall as well. So, spend the night, shop and enjoy yourself within an historical and nautical atmosphere.

People who want to do a roundtrip by boat in English style, can embark at the 'Swan of Teynham'. With this authentically steamboat the company of 'Varend Friesland' takes care of nostalgic roundtrips by boat. Including a high tea! You immediately feel at home.
