Ameland offers plenty of scenic areas covered in woods and heath. A hundred kilometres of cycle paths provide plenty of variation. And terraces in villages such as Nes are nice diversions.

Art lovers should make the crossing to the island in November when objects of modern art can be viewed all over the island during the “month of art”. The short crossing from the mainland makes Ameland perfect for spending a day in the fresh air.
